Hello everyone, this week I introduced one very important and general method, cross multiplication, to you for the factoring of trinomial.
Basically, pleas find the right "cross", which is also the factors, through the following three steps:
1) Factor the left term.
2) Factor the right term.
3) Do the cross multiplication and add the two products. If the result is equal to the middle term, you find the factors; otherwise please try other factors of the left term or right term.
Here is an example:

Please note that:
1) If there is a common factor, factor it out first.
2) If the trinomial is not in the descending order, rearrange it to the descending order.
3)* (optional) As for the polynomial with more than 3 terms, the "left term", "middle term", and "right term" also can be treated as polynomial. For example:
1) If there is a common factor, factor it out first.
2) If the trinomial is not in the descending order, rearrange it to the descending order.
